BNP leader expelled for obscene slogan against Mirza Fakhrul

Rajbari district BNP has expelled Akmal Hossain Chowdhury, organisational secretary of Rajbari Municipality BNP, for violating party discipline by chanting obscene slogans about BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

The expulsion order was issued late on Monday, November 17, in a letter signed on party letterhead by district BNP convener Advocate Liakat Ali Babu and member-secretary Advocate Kamrul Alam.

According to the letter, at around 5.15pm on November 16, a procession was initiated by some activists of Rajbari Municipality BNP at Goalanda Mor on the Rajbari–Faridpur highway, demanding changes to the party-announced nomination for the Rajbari-1 constituency. In that procession, Akmal Hossain Chowdhury shouted extremely obscene slogans about Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, engaging in behaviour that was highly condemnable and in breach of party discipline.

The letter stated that the slogans were broadcast across electronic and other media, and after the video came to the attention of the district BNP, he was immediately served a show-cause notice requiring a response within twenty-four hours. His written reply was deemed unsatisfactory by the district BNP.

It added that, as a responsible leader of Rajbari Municipality BNP, he harmed the party’s image and violated party discipline through such vulgar slogans. Therefore, he has been expelled from the post of organisational secretary as well as from all primary membership at the local level with effect from today.

Copies of the expulsion order have been sent to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Faridpur divisional organisational secretary Shama Obaid, and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

District BNP convener Advocate Liakat Ali Babu said Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is a widely respected political leader, and Akmal Hossain Chowdhury damaged the party’s image and discipline by shouting obscene slogans in excessive enthusiasm. As his explanation was unsatisfactory, he has been expelled from his organisational post and all local primary membership.
