Jharna Roy (70), wife of BNP national standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, has died. She died at 4 pm on Sunday (December 29) at BSMMU Hospital while undergoing treatment. Gayeshwar Chandra's daughter-in-law, Dhaka district BNP general secretary Nipun Roy Chowdhury, confirmed the matter and said that Jharna Roy had been suffering from various diseases for a long time. At the time of her death, Jharna Roy is survived by her husband, two daughters, a son and grandchildren.

বিএনপির জাতীয় স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য গয়েশ্বর চন্দ্র রায়ের স্ত্রী ঝর্ণা রায় (৭০) মারা গেছেন। রবিবার (২৯ ডিসেম্বর) বিকেল ৪টায় বিএসএমএমইউ হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় তার মৃত্যু হয়। গয়েশ্বর চন্দ্রের পুত্রবধূ ঢাকা জেলা বিএনপির সাধারণ সম্পাদক নিপুণ রায় চৌধুরী বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে বলেন, ঝর্ণা রায় দীর্ঘদিন ধরে নানা রোগে আক্রান্ত ছিলেন। মৃত্যুকালে ঝর্ণা রায় স্বামী, দুই মেয়ে, এক ছেলে ও নাতি-নাতনি রেখে গেছেন।
