BNP leader Mahbubur Rahman Shamim appointed administrator of Chattogram Zila Parishad
The government has appointed BNP leader Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman Shamim as the administrator of Chattogram Zila Parishad, according to a gazette notification issued on Sunday (July 19).
The notification, issued by the Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, said Shamim will serve as the full-time administrator until a new Zila Parishad is constituted or until further government orders.
Under Section 82A(1) of the Zila Parishad Act, 2000, he has been entrusted with overseeing the council's administration.
The notification further states that, in accordance with Section 82A(3) of the law, he will exercise all powers and perform all duties of the Zila Parishad chairman during his tenure.
He will also receive allowances and other benefits as prescribed under the relevant rules.
Mahbubur Rahman Shamim currently serves as the organising secretary of BNP's Chattogram division. He also contested the 13th parliamentary election from the Noakhali-6 (Hatia) constituency as a BNP candidate.
