BNP leader shot dead in Pabna
A local BNP leader, Biru Molla, 60, was shot dead in Ishwardi of Pabna, following a land dispute over soil excavation for a brickfield.
The incident took place around 9:30am at Lakshmikunda Union of the upazila under on Wednesday morning (December 17).
According to family members, banned Awami League leader Zahurul Molla and his son Al Amin Molla forcibly removed soil from Biru Molla’s land the previous night. Following this, A confrontation ensued in the next morning, during which Biru Molla was shot in the head.
He was rushed to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex, where doctors on duty declared him dead.
Reports suggest that the main accused, Zahurul Molla, is Biru Molla’s cousin.
Former Ishwardi BNP joint secretary Azmal Hossain Sujon demanded immediate legal action, stressing that the incident was linked to a land dispute, not political rivalry.
Mominuzzaman, officer-in-charge (acting) of Ishwardi Police Staion, confirmed that police are investigating the case and necessary legal measures will be taken.
