BNP leader stabbed by miscreants in Mohammadpur

A BNP leader has been seriously injured in a knife attack by miscreants in the capital's Mohammadpur area. The injured person has been identified as Mohammad Noor Islam, 55.

The attack occurred around 2:30 pm on Friday, June 19, in front of a building in the Sat Masjid Housing area in Mohammadpur.

According to witnesses and family sources, Noor Islam was standing downstairs when 5-6 miscreants arrived on a motorcycle and stabbed him indiscriminately before fleeing. He suffered serious injuries to the left side of his face, shoulder and left hand.

Noor Islam is the joint general secretary of BNP's 33rd ward under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

Locals rushed him to a local hospital first. When his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment in the emergency department, and doctors have said his condition is critical.

The victim's nephew, Yasin, said the attackers came suddenly and fled after the attack.

Hospital police said the injured man's condition is critical. The matter has been reported to the concerned police station.

Mohammadpur Police Station said an investigation has been launched. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the attackers through analysis of CCTV footage.
