BNP leader Zainul Abedin Farroque files case against DB Harun, Biplab Kumar
BNP leader Zainul Abedin Farroque has filed a case against former DB chief Harun Or Rashid and senior police official Biplab Kumar.
He filed the case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station in the capital on Monday (August 19) noon.
In 2011, Farroque was injured by the police baton near the Sangsad Bhaban during a hartal called by BNP. At that time, the then Member of Parliament of Laxmipur-4 Constituency ABM Ashraf Uddin Nijan was present at the scene. When he went to file a case at the police station, the police did not take the case.
Later, 30 members of the police were accused in a case filed with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka. The then Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Harun Or Rashid and Assistant Commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarkar were among the accused.
According to the case statement, police brutally thrashed Zainul Abedin Farroque by sticks and boots with an intention to kill. On the day of the incident, a case was also registered by the police against Farroque for obstructing government work.
