BNP men, police clash in Chattogram
BNP activists and the police locked horn in Chattogram city's Chandgaon area on Sunday morning while voting in the 12th parliamentary election is underway across the country.
The clash began in front of Sarafat Ullah Petrol Pump around 9:15am, said police.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Dutta of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (North Division) said: "A group of BNP men were staging demonstrations by blocking the road with burning tyres. They attacked on-duty police personnel when the latter tried to free the road.”
"They threw stones at police, who retaliated with bullets from shotguns," he said.
The clash was undergoing till filing the news at 11am. BNP is enforcing a 48-hour nationwide hartal protesting the holding of the 12th national polls.
