Narayanganj-3 BNP MP Azharul Islam Mannan has sought a list of police officers serving in Narayanganj district police who are from Gopalganj. Expressing anger over the law and order situation in the district, he claimed that "people from Gopalganj" have once again filled Narayanganj.

He made the request to the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police while speaking at a monthly law and order committee meeting at the Deputy Commissioner's office conference room on Sunday afternoon.

Azharul Islam Mannan said, "This will fall on the SP, but I will still say it. I will also say this to the Home Minister. I am going to Dhaka today. Before August 5, the entire Narayanganj district administration was filled with people from Gopalganj. Now, once again, it has been filled with those from Gopalganj. The entire Narayanganj district has been filled with people from Gopalganj."

He said, "How can law and order be good? Will the people from Gopalganj wish us well? They won't."

Demanding a list of Gopalganj residents serving in Narayanganj district police, the MP said, "We want a list. Who is from where, which police station in Narayanganj has who—we want that list. We want the list. Once again, the entire Narayanganj has been filled with those from Gopalganj."

The meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Rayhan Kabir, was attended by District Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman Munshi and officials from various levels of the administration.

His remarks have raised questions about the security and working environment of government officials. Netizens have been vocal on social media, calling it "regional bigotry."
