BNP organises football tournament in Bogura to promote social harmony
To spread the message of unity and social harmony, the Shahjahanpur Upazila unit of the BNP in Bogura has organised a unique sporting festival. The event reflects an inspiring story of equality, solidarity, and brotherhood.
The Upazila BNP has launched an Inter-Union Sanatani Football Tournament — not merely a sporting competition, but also a platform for cultural and social reunion. The focus, according to Enamul Haque Shaheen, Joint General Secretary of the Bogura District BNP and President of the Shahjahanpur Upazila BNP, lies on fraternity, harmony, and mutual tolerance.
Eight teams have been formed with participants from the Sanatani Hindu community of nine unions in the upazila. Among them, Khotta Para and Chopinagar unions have jointly formed one team, while the remaining seven unions are each represented by individual teams.
The opening match of the tournament took place on Friday, October 17, at the field of Government Chanchaitara Madla United High School in Madla area. While the footballers battled on the field with tactics and competition, the atmosphere outside the pitch radiated a bright spirit of friendship and harmony.
In the inaugural match, the team representing Chopinagar–Khotta Para faced off against Madla Union. Here, victory or defeat of any team was not the main concern — the true winners were the spectators, the organising committee, and the spirit of social unity that the event celebrated. The BNP banner carried a clear message: a call for social solidarity.
When asked, Upazila BNP President Enamul Haque Shaheen said, “The greatest success of such tournaments is that they ignite the light of humanity in people’s hearts. Through sports, an emotional bond develops and social inequality diminishes. This tournament is not just a sporting event; it is a social movement. Initiatives like this play a vital role in eliminating social disparity.”
