BNP rally swells as Tarique Rahman makes Khulna return after 22 years

BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman is set to visit the Khulna division, marking his return to the region after 22 years, as the party prepares for a major electoral rally.

The rally will be held at the Prabhati School ground in Khulna’s Khalishpur area on Monday (February 2), organised by Khulna Metropolitan and District BNP units.

Tarique Rahman will address the gathering as the chief guest.

Ahead of the rally, party leaders and activists have been arriving at the venue in processions since morning. Many from distant areas reached Khulna on Sunday night to attend the programme.

Khulna Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin said Tarique Rahman is scheduled to arrive in Khulna by helicopter at 11:00am. He will deliver his speech at the rally at noon and depart for Jashore at around 1:00pm. He expressed confidence that hundreds of thousands of people would join the rally spontaneously.

The rally will be presided over by Khulna Metropolitan BNP President Shafikul Alam Mona. Fourteen BNP parliamentary candidates from the greater Khulna region, along with senior central leaders, are expected to deliver directive speeches.

BNP Central Student Affairs Secretary and Khulna-3 parliamentary candidate Rakibul Islam Bakkul said leaders and activists from Satkhira and Bagerhat will also participate.

He added that security measures have been strengthened with the highest priority.
