The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will participate in the July Declaration reading ceremony, scheduled to be held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament on Tuesday, August 5. The announcement was made following a meeting of the party’s Standing Committee held at the BNP Chairperson's political office in Gulshan on Monday night.

Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, will read the July Declaration at 5 PM. The event will be broadcast live by Bangladesh Television (BTV).

A five-member BNP delegation, led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, is set to attend the event. The other members of the delegation include Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, and Salahuddin Ahmed.

Earlier, Adviser to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, confirmed that all political forces involved in the July Uprising—including the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Committee for People's Consensus (NCPC)—had been invited to the ceremony.

However, at a press conference on Monday, BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed claimed the party had yet to receive a formal invitation. Speaking at his Gulshan residence, he stated, “As of now, BNP has not received any official invitation for the July Declaration event at Manik Mia Avenue.”

In response, Farooki clarified that BNP had been invited as a party, and it was up to the party leadership to decide who would represent them at the event. “The government has maintained communication with all major parties and sought their input in organizing the July Declaration ceremony,” he added.

The event marks a significant political milestone and is expected to bring together a diverse range of political stakeholders under the banner of national unity and democratic transition.
