BNP vice-chairman and Feni-3 constituency candidate Abdul Awal Mintoo has filed a general diary seeking security for his life.

The GD was filed on Saturday, February 7, at Daganbhuiyan police station on his behalf by his polling agent Mohammad Shamsuddin, said Feni senior assistant superintendent of police, Sonagazi circle, Syed Mumid Raihan.

According to the GD, Jamaat leader Mezbah Uddin Sayeed threatened Mintoo during a Jamaat election meeting at Silonia Bazar in Jaylaskar union of Daganbhuiyan upazila at around 4pm on February 4.

He reportedly said that if Dr Shafiqur Rahman comes to power in the 13th national parliamentary election on February 12, Mintoo would have nowhere to run. He allegedly added that Sheikh Hasina fled leaving rice behind, and he would not say what Mintoo would have to leave behind.

The GD further claims that Mintoo has been receiving continuous threats through various means from Mezbah and other Jamaat leaders, causing reputational damage and fear for his personal safety.

The GD was filed seeking legal remedy against these threats.

Syed Mumid Raihan said the BNP candidate filed the GD through his representative and police are looking into the matter and will take necessary action in accordance with the law.
