BNP vows action against members involved in wrongdoing
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has pledged strict action against any party members involved in illegal, violent, or unethical activities.
Speaking at a press briefing at the BNP central office in Naya Paltan on Friday, Rizvi said, “Anyone who does something wrong, illegal, violent, or harmful in the name of the party will not be spared.”
He expressed concern over reports of individuals misusing the BNP’s name to intimidate people and engage in unlawful acts. “This country must not fall into the hands of thugs. Those who create fear using the party’s name have not been and will not be excused,” Rizvi added.
The BNP leader revealed that the party has already disciplined between 4,000 and 5,000 leaders and members from various wings for their involvement in criminal or dishonest activities. “As soon as we found out, we took action right away,” he said.
Rizvi emphasized that the party leadership, led by the acting chairman, is maintaining a zero-tolerance policy toward violence within or outside the party. “Since August 5, we have responded promptly to such cases,” he noted.
When asked about upcoming elections, Rizvi stressed the importance of a free and fair vote. “Only a free and fair election can show how much support the BNP really has,” he said, demanding timely and impartial polls.
