BNP wants both reforms and quick elections: Mirza Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the party wants both reforms and quick elections.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the first national council of the Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party at Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday (January 11).
Mirza Fakhrul said: "This is a wrong statement that we do not want reforms. We also want reforms. But, we also want quick elections. Because, if there is an election, all crises will end."
"We support the interim government. However, the country's economic situation is not good, and the political situation is also fragile," he added.
The BNP Secretary General said: "We have been saved from the hands of a terrible monster. I dream of building a new country. We must try to prevent it from being destroyed. In the last 16 years, false cases have been filed against 6 million BNP leaders and activists. 700 people have disappeared. About 20,000 people have been killed.’
He said: "We have been agitating for democracy for 16 years. We have no divisions. However, attempts have been made to create a rift in our unity. That will not work. We will move forward. We have to be patient. Let’s not take rash decisions."
Mirza Fakhrul also said: "We want to form a united national government. Let’s all unite and fulfill our dreams."
