BNP will never compromise on independence and sovereignty: Mirza Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the BNP will never compromise on the question of the country’s independence and sovereignty.
He made the remarks while joining a cultural event via mobile phone at the Central Shaheed Minar on Thursday, November 13. Mirza Fakhrul was scheduled to attend the event as chief guest but could not be present due to an emergency.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Social and Cultural Organisation (JASAS) organised the cultural event to mark the 50th anniversary of the National Revolution and Solidarity Day. In his remarks, Mirza Fakhrul said, “We will never compromise on the question of Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty, no matter the cost. We will work to build our economic growth while keeping national interests above all and strive to bring smiles to the faces of farmers, workers, and the working class.”
Mentioning that the BNP will form a ‘people’s government’ if it comes to power, Mirza Fakhrul said, “Given the current situation, after a mass uprising, we will be able to form a truly people’s government in Bangladesh through a fair election.”
He further said that Ziaur Rahman’s political philosophy was Bangladeshi nationalism. The late statesman initiated political reforms after assuming power and led the country from one-party rule to a multi-party system.
