BNP will prioritise Teesta Master Plan implementation if in power: Tarique Rahman

BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman has stated that if the BNP comes to power, top priority will be given to implementing the Teesta Master Plan.

He made this remark while delivering the chief guest's speech at an election rally organised by the district BNP at Nilphamari Municipality ground on Saturday around 2:30 pm.

Tarique Rahman said initiatives will be taken to transform Nilphamari into an industrial zone. New factories will be established here. Employment will be created for the youth, and training centres will be set up for unemployed young people to develop them as a skilled workforce. Additionally, various initiatives will be undertaken to ensure facilities for farmers, including agricultural cards.

He said there was no religion or caste in the great Liberation War of 1971. Similarly, there was no religion or caste in the overthrow of autocracy during the 2024 mass uprising. When they come to power, no religion or caste will be considered. I want to state clearly that the politics of the future will be about nation-building. In this regard, we want to work together irrespective of party or opinion. We want to move forward.

The BNP Chairperson said the time has come for the proper valuation of people's power. In the days ahead, the state will be run based on merit and qualification. He called for voting for the Sheaf of Paddy symbol on February 12 to build a safe and prosperous Bangladesh.

He alleged that voters are being intimidated and threatened in various ways. He promised to bring those involved in such irregularities under the law.

After the rally, he introduced the alliance candidate for Nilphamari-1 constituency, Maulana Manjurul Alam Afendi of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh, BNP candidate for Nilphamari-2 constituency Engineer Shahreen Islam Chowdhury Tuhin, BNP candidate for Nilphamari-3 constituency Syed Ali, and BNP candidate for Nilphamari-4 constituency Abdul Gafur Sarker to the assembled crowd.

Presided over by district BNP convener Mir Selim Faruq and conducted by district BNP member secretary AHM Saifullah Rubel, others who spoke at the rally included BNP Rangpur divisional joint organising secretary Abdul Khaleq, former MP Bilkis Islam, district BNP former joint general secretary Advocate Abu Mohammad Soaem, convener committee member Muktar Hossain, Nilphamari Municipality BNP former president Mahbub Ur Rahman, former general secretary Advocate Al Masud Chowdhury, former joint organising secretary Redwanul Haque Babu, among others.

Earlier, from the morning, leaders and activists from various units of the district arrived at the Nilphamari Municipality ground in separate processions and gathered there.
