BNP will rebuild the country from ruins: Tarique Rahman

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the BNP rescued the country from the brink of destruction in the past and will do so again, stressing that unity will be crucial as difficult times lie ahead.

He made the remarks on Sunday, December 21, while speaking virtually from London as the chief guest at the inauguration of a digital memorial for the martyrs of the July mass uprising, organised by Bogura district BNP at the Shaheed Titu Auditorium in Bogura city.

At the outset of his speech, Tarique Rahman paid tribute to martyred Osman Hadi, saying, “Osman Hadi was a fearless soldier of democracy. He believed in electoral politics, which is why he chose to contest elections.” He called on all to work together to uphold the honour of the martyrs and fighters of the July movement, alongside the heroic martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War, in rebuilding the nation.

“Today, the country is free from authoritarian rule. To make this freedom meaningful, we must rebuild the nation anew from the ruins,” he said.

Earlier, Tarique Rahman formally inaugurated the digital memorial dedicated to the martyrs of the July mass uprising in Bogura.
