BNP-Jamaat clash over construction of body washing place in Pallabi

A chase-counterchase and clash has occurred between two sides supporting Jamaat and BNP centring the construction of a body washing place in the Bihari camp of Pallabi in the capital. Blank firing has also taken place at this time, it has been learnt.

The incident occurred around 4pm at Road No 12 of Section No 11 under Pallabi police station on Saturday (August 29).

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Pallabi police station Hasan Basir confirmed the authenticity of the incident and said a body washing place was being built in the camp. Chase-counterchase started between the two sides over the installation of a water pump there.

It is learnt citing locals that the clash originated centring the construction of the washing place in Section-11 Talab Camp. One side was led by Sumon and Jamaat activist Manik. About 50 to 60 people were with them. The other side was led by BNP-leaning Chatra Dal convener Sohel and Bihari organization leader Sadakat Khan Fakku. About 200 to 250 people were with them.

At one stage blank firing took place between both sides. Tension spread in the area due to this. Members of the law enforcement agencies have remained in alert position after the incident to keep the situation under control.
