BNP's statement over Muradnagar rape incident

BNP's Muradnagar upazila unit has issued a statement regarding the rape accused Fozor Ali's involvement with the party.

In a joint statement, Muradnagar Upazila unit BNP convener Mohiuddin Anjan and member secretary Molla Mojibul Haque said that Muradnagar Upazila BNP has always been a victim of the alleged media trial.

The statement claimed that accused Fozor Ali has no connection with BNP, rather he had involvement with the Awami League. He was connected with former MP Yusuf Abdullah Harun and now Yusuf Abdullah Harun's media wing is running this propaganda against BNP.

Meanwhile, locals claim that Fozor Ali was previously involved in Awami League politics but he got involved in BNP political activities after August 5.

Fozor Ali has allegedly raped a woman breaking the door of her house in a village in Muradnagar Upazila.

The woman filed a case against Fozor Ali, 38, with Muradnagar Police Station on Friday.

According to the case statement, the accused went to her house around 10:00pm on Thursday and demanded to let him enter. When she refused, he broke down the door, assaulted her and raped her.

Hearing screams, relatives rescued the victim and beat the perpetrator up, said locals.

Muradnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jahidur Rahman said police are conducting drives to apprehend the accused.

The video of this incident went viral on social media platform on Saturday sparking anger among netizens.
