BNP's two factions clash in Natore leaves ASI injured

A clash between two factions of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) at Chanchkoir Bazar under Gurudaspur upazila in Natore.

The incident took place around 10:00pm near Rosunhat in the municipal area on Thursday night (March 19).

A police assistant sub-inspector sutained serious injuries in this incident.

The victim, Abdul Aziz, who was injured in the confrontation while police attempted to control the situation, is receiving treatment at Gurudaspur Upazila Health Complex.

According to the local sources, the conflict erupted over dominance between supporters of former BNP mayor Moshiur Rahman and prospective mayor candidate Dulal Sarkar. The dispute escalated into a physical clash with mutual chasing and scuffles.

Shafiquzzaman Sarkar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gurudaspur Police Station, confirmed the matter.

Additional police personnel have been deployed to the area, and the situation is now under control.
