Boat symbol will remain in Election Commission's list: EC Masud
Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud has stated that although the Awami League's registration has been suspended, the boat symbol will remain in the Election Commission’s (EC) list of symbols for now. At the same time, he also mentioned that the Shapla (water lily) symbol will not be included at this time.
Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud said this on Sunday (July 13).
The commissioner stated that despite the suspension of the Awami League’s registration and the prohibition of its political activities, the boat symbol will remain in the list of election symbols for now. This is because the Election Commission allocates a symbol to each political party, and these symbols are reserved by the EC. Unless a final decision is made regarding any party, there is no opportunity to remove a symbol. Therefore, the boat symbol of the Awami League will remain for the time being.
Regarding the NCP’s Shapla symbol, Abdur Rahmanel Masud said that any party can request any symbol. However, since this symbol is not in the Election Commission’s list, the Shapla is not being included at this time. He added that if the NCP gets registered later as a party, these matters will be reviewed accordingly, according to the senior commissioner.
