Bodies of 2 college students found floating in Kaptai Lake

The bodies of two college students who went missing in a boat accident in Naniarchar have been recovered from Kaptai Lake.

Dipesh Dewan’s body was found floating near the Mahajanpara area of Kaptai Lake on Friday morning. Earlier, on Thursday, the body of Denizen Chakma was recovered by locals from the Noapara area of the lake.

The students went missing on Tuesday night while returning home from Jagannath Temple in Naniarchar after attending Durga Puja celebrations. Their boat was caught in a storm near Mahajanpara and capsized. Four other passengers managed to swim to safety.

Supen Chakma, Chairman of Sabekshang Union Parishad, confirmed the incident and the recovery of the bodies. Both students were residents of Ward No. 3 of Sabekshang Union. Denizen Chakma was a student at Naniarchar College, while Dipesh Dewan studied at Khagrachhari College.
