Bodies of five Bangladeshis killed in Qatar crash arrive in Sylhet

The bodies of five expatriates from Sylhet's Kanaighat who were killed in a road accident in Qatar's Shahaniya area have arrived in the country. The Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-226 carrying the bodies landed at Sylhet Osmani International Airport at 6:50 am on Tuesday, June 30. After formalities, the coffins were handed over to the families.

Relatives received the bodies and transported them by ambulance to their respective villages in Kanaighat. The deceased are expected to be buried on Tuesday afternoon.

Councilor Mashhudul Kabir of the Labour Wing at the Bangladesh Embassy in Doha said the bodies were brought under the funding of the Bangladesh Wage Earners' Welfare Board. The flight departed from Hamad International Airport in Qatar around 10:15 pm local time on Monday and arrived in Sylhet on Tuesday morning.

On June 21, five Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian citizen were killed in a road accident in Qatar's Shahaniya area while heading to work. All five Bangladeshis were residents of Kanaighat, Sylhet.

The relatives expressed gratitude to the government authorities for sending the bodies back within a week of the accident.
