Bodies of martyred army personnel to be brought home on Saturday

The bodies of the Bangladesh Army peacekeepers martyred in the terrorist drone attack on the UN peacekeeping mission base in Abyei, Sudan are scheduled to be brought to Dhaka on Saturday (December 20). The Bangladesh Army has said that the funeral will be held with due dignity after returning to the country.

The army gave this information in a press release on Wednesday (December 17). It has also been reported that all those injured in the incident are now out of danger.

The press release said that eight Bangladesh Army peacekeepers were initially injured in the barbaric terrorist drone attack on a UN peacekeeping mission base in Abyei, Sudan on December 13. Later, the updated information confirmed that one more peacekeeper was injured, bringing the total number of injured to nine.

The highest level of medical treatment has been ensured for all the injured peacekeepers. Currently, all are out of danger. One of them has already been discharged from the hospital after treatment, the Bangladesh Army said.

The press release further said that the bodies of the six peacekeepers martyred in the terrorist attack are scheduled to return to Dhaka on December 20. Funeral services will be conducted with due dignity after returning to the country.

On December 13, six Bangladesh Army peacekeepers were martyred and a total of nine were injured in a terrorist drone attack carried out by separatist armed groups at the Kadugali Logistics Base under the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Abyei, Sudan.
