Bodies of two housewives recovered in Faridganj

Police have recovered the bodies of two housewives from separate locations in Faridganj, Chandpur. The deceased have been identified as Farzana Akter, 22, and Aklima Akter, 18.

The bodies were recovered on Monday, May 25, from the Santoshpur area in Char Dukhiya East union and the Charmandari area in Rupsa North union.

According to local and family sources, Farzana Akter was the wife of Ariful Islam, an expatriate worker in Saudi Arabia. Family members claimed she committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her room on Monday morning.

In the other incident, Aklima Akter was the wife of Meheraj Hossain, also a Saudi expatriate. She reportedly hanged herself from a beam in her father's house kitchen.

Locals said both couples had been married for about 15 months. It is suspected that family disputes may have led to the incidents.

Sub-Inspectors Md Helal Uddin and Mohammad Nurul Alam of Faridganj Police Station recovered the bodies and took them to the police station.

Faridganj Police Station OC Mohammad Helal Uddin said legal procedures are underway following the recovery of the bodies.
