Bodies of two missing children recovered from Buriganga

Police have recovered the bodies of two missing children from the old channel of the Buriganga river in Kamrangirchar in the capital. The deceased are Saif (9) and Rohan (8). Their families said they had been missing since Wednesday afternoon, September 23.

Their bodies surfaced in the river water around 6am on Thursday, September 24. Later, relatives brought the two bodies out of the water. Police went to the scene after receiving the news and recovered the bodies.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Babu of the Naval Police's Barishur outpost said it was primarily learned that the two children fell into the water while playing. They did not know how to swim. It is believed they drowned after sinking into the deep water.

The deceased Saif's father, Saidul Haque, sells vanity bags. Rohan's father, Shafiq, repairs mobile phones. Both children's families live in the Match Factory area of Rahmatbagh in Kamrangirchar.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Babu said legal measures have been taken over the incident.
