Bodies of two Noakhali youths found hanging in Dhaka

Police have recovered the hanging bodies of two youths from Noakhali in the capital's Badda and Bhatara areas. Police primarily believe they died by suicide.

The two bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy on Thursday noon, police said.

The deceased are Md Sagar (31), son of Harunur Rashid of Alaiyarpur in Noakhali's Begumganj police station area, and Mahfuzur Rahman Imon (20), son of Md Mizanur Rahman of Ahmedpur village in Senbagh police station area.

Sagar lived with his family on the fifth floor of a house in the GM Bari Khalpar area of Satarkul in Badda. Family members found him hanging from the window of the house early Thursday morning. Later, police recovered the body after receiving the news.

Badda Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Ibrahim Khan said Sagar had been unemployed for a long time. According to the family, he was depressed and drug-addicted. His wife found him hanging from the window around 3am on Wednesday night.

On the other hand, Imon was recovered hanging from a house in the Dhalibari Kachabazar area of Bhatara Police Station. Around 10pm on Wednesday night, his father went outside to talk on his mobile phone. Later, upon returning home, he found Imon with a towel wrapped around a rice rack, police said.

Bhatara Police Station Sub-Inspector Hasanuzzaman said it was primarily learned that Imon was mentally depressed over various family matters.

Police said investigations into both incidents are underway. The cause of death will be more certain after the autopsy report is received.
