Bodies of woman, daughter recovered from Hill Base in Bandarban
Police have recovered the bodies of a woman and her daughter from the foot of a hill behind the Meghla tourist spot in Bandarban Sadar upazila.
The deceased were identified as Do Wai Marma, 26, wife of Uday Tanchangya, a resident of Datt Vanga Para, and their four-year-old daughter, Brishti Tanchangya.
Assistant Superintendent of Police of Bandarban Sadar Circle, Manna De, said that the bodies were found around 11:00am on Thursday in the Datt Vanga Para area under Ward No. 4 of Raicha union, near an under-construction resort. Police recovered the bodies after receiving information and sent them to Bandarban Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
“Police are treating the deaths of the mother and child with utmost importance and investigating the matter,” he added.
According to locals and police sources, Uday works as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver. A family dispute reportedly took place between the couple on Wednesday night. Following the altercation, locals suspect the woman may have jumped from the hill along with her daughter.
Ajit Tanchangya, a member of Raicha Union Parishad and a resident of Tiger Para, said, “They had an argument last night. We do not know what happened afterwards. In the morning, locals spotted the bodies at the bottom of the hill and informed the police.”
