Body formed to investigate fire incident at airport
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has formed a 7-member committee to investigate the fire incident at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The committee has been asked to submit its investigation report within the next five working days, said a notification signed by Biman's Director Administration and Human Resources (Additional Duty) Officer Md. Nausad Hossain on Saturday, October 18.
The notification said that Biman's Flight Safety Chief will serve as the chairman of the committee. The members will be - a representative of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Biman's General Manager (Corporate Safety and Quality), Chief Engineer (Quality Assurance), Deputy General Manager (Security) and Deputy General Manager (Cargo-Export). And the responsibility of member secretary has been given to Biman's Deputy Manager (Insurance).
The committee has been asked to determine the cause of the fire, assess the damage, identify those responsible and submit recommendations to prevent future fires.
Earlier, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism confirmed in a press release that the fire at the airport's cargo village has been completely brought under control. The release also said that no one lost their lives in the fire.
