Body of another CU student washes ashore on Cox's Bazar beach
Body of another Chittagong University (CU) student who went missing while bathing in the sea, was recovered from the beach in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday morning (July 9).
The deceased has been identified as Asif Ahmed, 22, a first-year student in the Development Studies Department at Chittagong University (academic year 2023–24) and hailed from Bogura.
Asif's body washed ashore in the Samity Para area of Cox's Bazar, a day after he was swept away by strong currents.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, three friends were pulled into the sea by a powerful current while bathing near the Himchhari Museum area. KM Sadnan Rahman Sabab, 21, another CU student, drowned in the incident and his body was recovered on the same day.
The third student, Aritra, 22, son of Aminul Islam, remains missing.
Mahbub, in-charge of the Cox's Bazar beach workers team, confirmed the recovery. "The body of Asif Ahmed was found on the coast in the Samity Para area. It has been sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for further procedures. Search efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining missing student," he said.
