The body of a Bangladeshi teenager who died while attempting to cross the Mediterranean from Libya to Greece remains missing.

The victim, Mohammad Abu Fahim, 19, hailed from Dowarabazar upazila in Sunamganj and died from hunger and dehydration on a risky sea route to Europe.

The tragic incident has left his family in deep mourning without even his body.

Fahim was among a group of migrants whose boat drifted at sea for six days after losing its way amid rough weather. With no access to food or drinking water, Fahim—reportedly the youngest among the victims—succumbed during the journey.

Family members said Fahim had recently traveled to Libya hoping to reach Europe in search of better economic opportunities, aiming to support his family and ease the burden on his father, a migrant worker in Saudi Arabia.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Arup Ratan Singh expressed deep condolences on the loss and urged people to avoid dangerous migration routes, warning of the growing risks associated with such journeys.

The loss of their only child has devastated Fahim's parents. His father has fallen ill following the news and is currently undergoing treatment in Saudi Arabia.
