Police have recovered the hanging body of a young man, Kawsar Ahmed, from the Sagarika Flyover in Chattogram city. Local sources said Kawsar was the Liberation War affairs secretary of the Akbar Shah police station unit of the banned student organisation Chhatra League. An autopsy was conducted, and the body was handed over to the family on Tuesday, May 12. An unnatural death case has been registered at Pahartali police station.

Police said Kawsar worked as a part-time security guard at a BSRM factory. He was the son of the late Abul Kashem of Urokhir Char in Raozan upazila, Chattogram. He lived with his mother and three brothers in the Akbar Shah area under Pahartali police station. Locals spotted his body hanging from the flyover and informed police.

Police initially suspect it may be a suicide, but the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy report is received.

Pahartali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Nurul Absar said the family did not file any complaint against anyone. The family informed police that Kawsar had long been involved in drug abuse. An unnatural death case has been registered.

However, Chhatra League leaders and activists have alleged that it was a planned murder. They claim he was abducted, killed, and then hanged from the flyover.

Banned Chhatra League leader Talukdar Parvez Ansari alleged that BNP-Jamaat terrorists abducted and killed Kawsar for being a Chhatra League member, then hanged his body from the flyover.
