Body of female village police found by pond in Sirajganj
Police have recovered the body of a female village police officer named Anna Rani, 38, from the bank of a pond near a school in Salanga, Sirajganj.
Her body was found on Saturday morning, October 11, beside the pond of Salanga Islamia High School.
The deceased was the wife of late Bijen Chandra Das of Bharamohoni Madhyapara (Nishipara) village under Salanga Police Station. She was serving as a village police officer at the Salanga Union Parishad.
Her nephew, Indrajit Das, said Anna was sleeping in her room on Friday night but was missing in the morning. Later, locals found her body beside the pond near the school. He said the family could not yet determine how she died.
Sub-Inspector Brojeshwar Amin of Salanga Police Station said locals informed police after seeing the body by the pond. Police recovered the body upon arrival at the scene.
“There were no injury marks on the body, but a wound was found around the neck,” the SI said. The body is being prepared to be sent to Shaheed M. Monsur Ali Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the victim’s nephew alleged that Anna Rani had been murdered.
Officer-in-Charge Humayun Kabir said the body was recovered and an investigation is underway. “Legal action will be taken as required. No case has been filed yet,” he added.
