Police have recovered the hanging body of Imran Nabil Pramanik, a former student of Jagannath University, from a mess in the Dhupkhola area of Old Dhaka. Imran was a student of the 2016-17 academic session in the Department of Islamic Studies. His ancestral home is in Sundarganj thana of Gaibandha district.

Gendaria Police Station OC Golam Mortuja said the body was recovered from a mess in a six-storey building in the Dhupkhola area around 10:45 am on Sunday. He stated, "Based on information provided by his roommates, we recovered his body hanging from a ceiling fan with a gamchha. The door was locked from inside. Initially, it is suspected to be a suicide. After speaking with the family, we learned that he was suffering from mental depression."

University Proctor Professor Muhammad Tajammul Haque said they went to the police station after hearing the news of his death. Imran lived with two others in the mess, but he was alone at the time as the other two were at home due to the election.

The body is being sent to the morgue for autopsy, and police will hand over the body to the family after the post-mortem is completed.
