Body of former police member recovered from pond in Kishoreganj
Police have recovered the body of former police member Nazmul Alam Anik, 34, from a fish farm pond in Kishoreganj Sadar.
His body was recovered from his own fish farm pond in the Laxmiganj area of Rashidabad Union in Sadar upazila late on Thursday, August 6.
Ashraful Islam Joni, a friend of the deceased, said Anik joined the police force about 12 years ago. After serving for two years, he left the job and returned home to engage in farming. Later, a few years ago, he started fish farming and established his own fish farm.
He said Anik went to cut grass for his cattle near the farm on Thursday afternoon, as he did every day. When he did not return home after evening, family members went to the farm and began searching. At that time, cut grass was found lying scattered at the farm.
Later, with the help of locals, a net was cast into the farm pond for a search. Anik's body was eventually recovered from underwater. Police were informed and they arrived at the scene to recover the body.
Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Abul Kalam Bhuiyan said after recovery, the body was sent to Kishoreganj Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. No injury marks were found on his body during the initial examination. The actual cause of death will be known after the post-mortem report is received. Necessary legal action is being taken regarding the incident.
