Police have recovered the hanging body of Pulak Chatterjee, former Barisal bureau chief of national daily Samakal. The body was recovered in a hanging condition from the bureau office around 7pm on Friday.

It was learnt that Pulak Chatterjee had been dismissed from Samakal two years ago. He was a former general secretary of Barisal Press Club. After that he used to lead a lonely life.

Journalist Suman Chowdhury, who is currently in charge of the bureau, informed that Pulak Chatterjee used to have a key of the office. He would often come at night, open the office and spend time.

On Friday evening Suman came to the office and found the office locked from inside. Opening the door a little he saw Pulak Chatterjee hanging with a noose around the neck. At that time police was quickly informed. Police came, broke the door and recovered the body of Pulak Chatterjee.
