Body of missing college student recovered from Cox’s Bazar beach
The body of a college student who went missing after entering the sea at Cox’s Bazar beach was recovered early Monday morning, 15 hours after he disappeared.
Md. Azim Khan, Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner in charge of the district’s tourism branch, confirmed that the student’s body was found around 6 a.m. near the Samiti Para area of the beach.
The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Zuhaer Ayman, son of Md. Shariful Islam, a resident of Ward No. 3, Katnarpara, Bogura Municipality.
According to Azim Khan, three college students from Bogura had gone swimming at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Laboni Point on the beach. While two students were rescued by lifeguards after being swept into the sea by strong waves, Ayman went missing.
Search operations led by the district administration, along with the Fire Service and lifeguard teams, continued late into the night. His body was recovered at dawn.
Ayman’s uncle, Md. Mojahidur Rahim, stated that preparations are underway to transport the body back to Bogura following the completion of legal formalities.
Imtiaz Ahmad, regional manager of C-Safe Lifeguard, which handles rescue operations at Cox’s Bazar, noted that several dangerous hidden channels exist along the beach. At Laboni Point, where Ayman disappeared, red flags had been placed beforehand to warn visitors of hazardous conditions.
He urged tourists to heed lifeguard warnings before entering the sea to ensure their safety.
