Body of police constable recovered from hotel in Cox's Bazar

Police have recovered the hanging body of a police constable named Ataul Kabir from a residential hotel in Cox's Bazar town. The body was recovered on Friday, August 14, from room 401 on the fourth floor of Dhaka Hotel in the bus terminal area of the town.

The deceased, Ataul Kabir, was a resident of Rajbari area in Nesarabad upazila of Pirojpur district. He was serving at the Whykong Highway Police in Teknaf upazila.

The hotel manager said Ataul Kabir checked into the hotel alone around 9pm on Thursday night. When hotel staff knocked on the door on Friday morning around 11am, there was no response from inside. Police were informed and upon arriving, they opened the door and found him hanging from a ceiling fan.

The manager said no one else was with Ataul Kabir when he checked in.

Police recovered his bag, clothes and necessary documents from the scene. After preparing the inquest report, the body was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The officer-in-charge of Whykong Highway Police confirmed that Ataul Kabir was serving there and said he had been facing family problems for a long time.

The exact reason for his death could not be immediately confirmed. Police are investigating the incident.
