Body of slain Bangladeshi student Bristy to be repatriated May 7
The body of Bangladeshi PhD student Nahida Sultana Bristy, who was killed in Florida, United States, will be brought back to Bangladesh on May 7.
Prior to that, her funeral prayer is expected to be held on Wednesday after Zuhr at an Islamic centre mosque in Tampa.
Earlier, On Saturday morning (May 2), Tampa Police formally hand over the body to a local funeral service provider after identification was completed, according to authorities.
Zamil Ahmed Limon and Bristy, both 27 and student at the University of South Florida, had been missing since April 16. Eight days later, authorities recovered Limon’s body near a bridge following digital tracking and vehicle data analysis.
Investigators said the suspect, identified as Limon’s roommate Hisham Gharbeh, allegedly carried out the double murder in a premeditated manner.
He has been arrested and remanded to custody after his bail was denied by the court.
Authorities are also examining whether there were any security lapses at the apartment complex, while members of the Bangladeshi community and fellow students continue to follow the investigation closely.
The incident, which took place in late April in Tampa, has sparked widespread concern among the Bangladeshi diaspora and the international student community in the United States.
