Body of slain Bangladeshi student on it's way to Dhaka
The remains of Bangladeshi PhD student Zamil Ahmed Limon, who was killed in Florida, will reach Dhaka at 8:40am on May 4 (Monday).
An Emirates flight, 0582, carrying the remains has left Orlando (MCO) at 8:50pm on May 2 (Saturday), the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington said in a press release on Sunday (May 3).
Officials said the body is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh via Dubai at 8:40am on May 4 (local time).
The journey will include a transit in Dubai, the added.
Representatives from the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Miami, including Consul General Sheheli Sabrin, were present at the airport and oversaw the repatriation process.
Following the recovery of Limon’s body on April 25, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Washington, D.C., the Miami consulate, local authorities, university officials, and members of the Bangladeshi community coordinated to complete all legal formalities and ensure swift repatriation.
Limon’s funeral prayer was held on April 30 after Zuhr at the Islamic Society of Tampa Bay Area mosque, attended by fellow students from the University of South Florida, family members, diplomats, media representatives and members of the Bangladeshi diaspora.
Meanwhile, authorities have confirmed the identification of another slain Bangladeshi student, Nahida Sultana Bristy, whose body was verified on May 1 by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
The Bangladesh Consulate in Miami has obtained family consent and requested the Pinellas County Medical Examiner to release her body to the same funeral home for repatriation.
Diplomatic missions in Washington and Miami are jointly working to send her remains to Bangladesh at the earliest.
