Bogura Hindu community protests against alleged insult to Ramchandra

The followers of sanatan religion have held a human chain and protest programme in Bogura to condemn insult to Hindu God Ramchandra and threat of vandalism and demolition of temples in various parts of the country, including Gaibandha.

The programme was organized around 11 am on Saturday (June 20) at Satmatha, the heart of the city, by the initiative of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad and the Bogura district unit of the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Parishad.

The programme was presided over by Parimal Chandra Das, president of the Bogura district committee of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad.

The protest rally was moderated by the organization's general secretary Nirmalendu Roy, and the president of the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Parishad district branch Dr. NC Baroi, Vice President Chandan Chakraborty, former district president of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad Amrit Lal Saha, president of Metropolitan Committee Parimal Prasad Raj and general secretary Sujit Jaiswal and other leaders were present.

The speakers said that everyone should be united to protect the country's tradition of communal harmony and coexistence. Attacking the beliefs, feelings or security of any religious place of worship is a threat to the peace and stability of the country.

They alleged that a vested interest group is systematically trying to create division and instability in the society by hurting the religious feelings of the followers of traditional religions.

The rally strongly condemned the threat of vandalism of temples in various places including Gaibandha. Along with this, it was demanded that those involved in these incidents be identified quickly, brought to justice and given exemplary punishment.

The speakers also expressed deep concern over the incident of insulting Ramchandra and said that any attempt to destroy religious harmony must be dealt with sternly. They called on the government to ensure a fair investigation and trial of this incident.
