Bogura is a BNP stronghold, you must take responsibility for it: Tarique Rahman
BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has said Bogura is a strong organisational base of the party and the responsibility of maintaining that strength lies with local leaders and activists. He said, “You must take care of the people of this area. I have visited you several times in the past, this time I have come as a candidate.”
He made the remarks while addressing a views-exchange meeting with leaders of Bogura-6, Sadar constituency, as the chief guest at Hotel Naz Garden, Forster Hotel in Bogura at 11:00am, January 31.
He said party activists must strengthen voter outreach by visiting households across all seven parliamentary constituencies in Bogura. “Seeking votes alone will not be enough, everyone has to work harder than before,” he added.
Tarique Rahman also said, “Some people think the paddy sheaf will win by a huge margin here even without reaching out to voters. However, I believe this election is extremely important. We cannot remain inactive. We must reach out to everyone and ensure victory with a big margin in all seven seats.”
The meeting was presided over by Bogura district BNP president Rezaul Karim Badsha and conducted by district BNP organising secretaries Shahid-un-Nabi and Khairul Bashar.
Among others, BNP chairperson’s adviser Advocate AKM Mahbubur Rahman, Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu, central executive committee member VP Saiful Islam, Zainal Abedin Chan, Ali Azgar Talukder Hena, Bogura city BNP president Advocate Hamidul Haque Chowdhury Hiru, general secretary Moniruzzaman Moni and Bogura Sadar upazila BNP president Maftun Ahmed Khan Rubel also spoke at the meeting.
The programme began with prayers seeking eternal peace for the soul of former BNP chairperson, late Begum Khaleda Zia.
Later, he left for Sirajganj at 12:40pm. A large number of people gathered on both sides of the Dhaka-Rangpur highway to see him off. He waved at the crowd. He also attended a roadside rally in front of the party office in Shahjahanpur, Bogura. He is also scheduled to speak at another roadside rally at Dhunat Mor in Sherpur upazila of the district.
