The panic surrounding a bomb threat on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-373 from Dhaka to Kathmandu has been resolved, as authorities confirmed the threat was a hoax. The flight was scheduled to depart from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 4:45 PM on Friday (July 11). However, moments before takeoff, an anonymous phone call claimed there was a bomb on board.

As a precaution, all passengers were immediately evacuated, and the airport's bomb disposal unit began a thorough inspection of the aircraft. After an extensive search, no explosives or suspicious items were found. Passengers were then reboarded, and preparations resumed for the flight’s departure to Kathmandu.

ABM Roushan Kabir, General Manager of Biman’s Public Relations Department, told the media, “It was a fake call. Passenger safety was never compromised. The Civil Aviation Authority is treating the matter with utmost seriousness.”

Airport officials noted that since this was an international flight, the incident is being investigated with the highest priority. Authorities are working to identify the source of the false alarm and the motive behind it.

Although no one was harmed, the incident caused significant panic among passengers. The flight had been temporarily suspended until full security clearance was obtained.
