‘Bottle bomb’ hurled at Grameen Telecom Trust resort in Gazipur

A ‘bottle bomb’ was thrown at Grameen Telecom Trust’s Nisarga Resort in Kaliganj, Gazipur.

The incident took place at the resort located in Kuchlibari area of ​​Nagri Union in Kaliganj Upazila in the early hours of Wednesday (November 12). A similar attack took place at the same resort five months ago.

According to police and local sources, security personnel saw two petrol bomb-like objects inside the resort’s boundary wall in the early hours of the morning. They immediately informed the police. Later, the police recovered two glass bottles resembling bombs from the scene.

Jamal Uddin, in-charge of Ulukhola Police Camp of Kaliganj Police Station, said: “Two glass bottles have been recovered from Nisarga Resort. There was a kerosene-like liquid inside those. The miscreants threw them at the resort, but there was no damage."

He further said that the previous case is still under investigation and the recent incident has also been brought under investigation. It is believed that some time during the night, miscreants threw the bombs from outside and fled.

Earlier on May 26, a petrol bomb exploded inside the same resort. Then, two explosions were heard in quick succession. When the fire broke out, the Ansar members on duty were able to immediately put out the fire.

The chairman and managing trustee of ‘Grameen Telecom Trust’ is Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser to the interim government.
