Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has sent a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs requesting enhanced police patrols to prevent growing unrest and untoward incidents at filling stations across the country.

In the letter sent on Sunday, March 8, BPC stated that negative news published in various media and social media regarding fuel oil stocks has created a tendency among consumers to collect excess quantities of oil. As a result, dealers are attempting to collect more oil from depots than usual.

Reports are also being received that some consumers are trying to collect excess oil beyond their needs and hoard it unauthorisedly.

BPC informed that various untoward incidents are occurring between employees and customers due to limited supplies from filling stations. It has become urgent to strengthen police patrols at filling stations to control the situation. In the letter, the Ministry of Home Affairs has been requested to take necessary measures in this regard.
