British passport holder found dead at Chattogram home
Police recovered the decomposed body of a British passport holder from his home in Chattogram’s Halishahar on Tuesday (September 1), four days after his relatives lost contact with him.
The deceased was identified as Delwar Hossain Zakir, 55, who had been living alone in a flat on the second floor of Rowshan Manzil on Lane 10 of Halishahar’s A Block.
According to police, Zakir’s family members have been living permanently in London. They had repeatedly tried to contact him by phone for about four days but received no response.
After a foul smell began coming from one of the rooms, local residents alerted police. Officers from Halishahar Police Station later broke open the door and found Zakir’s decomposed body lying on a bed.
The body was sent to a morgue for autopsy, Halishahar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Pranab Chowdhury confirmed.
Zakir was the son of Ajiullah Sukan of the former Sandwip Town Dighir Par area in Sandwip. His family has long been settled in London, while Zakir had been living alone in the Halishahar flat for nearly two years.
Police said the exact cause of death would be determined after receiving the autopsy report.
