Broom procession held protesting Jamaat Ameer's remarks on working women
A broom procession has been held to protest the misogynistic remarks of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman in Bogura.
The protest march was organized by the District unit Mohila Dal on Tuesday (February 3) afternoon. The procession started from Shahid Khokon Park area of the town at 12 noon and ended in front of the BNP party office on Nababbari Road. Later, a protest rally was held there.
The rally was presided over by District unit Mohila Dal President (acting) Advocate Shahazadi Laila Arzuban Banu while General Secretary Nazma Akhter, Vice President Shahinur Begum, town unit Mohila Dal General Secretary Ranjana Begum and many others spoke at the rally.
In her speech, Nazma Akhter said that women are half of the country's total population. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman made ugly comments about those women. He himself was born from the womb of a mother. He also has a wife and children at home. Even then, such a statement is shameful. His statement is extremely misogynistic and insulting.
She also said that the Ameer of Jamaat should publicly apologize to the mothers and sisters of Bengal for his statement. Until he apologizes, the protest movement will continue.
