BRP slum fire under control

A fire has broken out at the BRP slum in the capital's Bhashantek area.

Five firefighting units from Mirpur and Kurmitola fire stations are currently working to control the blaze, according to Fire Service and Civil Defence officials.

The fire was first reported at around 11am on Thursday (6 March), said Talha Bin Zasim, station officer (media cell) of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters.

Fire Service officials later confirmed that the flames were brought under control at around 11:35am.

Details regarding how the fire started or the extent of damage are yet to be known.

No casualties have been reported so far.

Police and army personnel are at the scene to help the firefighters and keep the situation around the slum under control.
