The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has imposed a ban on vehicular movement on the day of the 12th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) election to be held on January 7. BRTA issued a notification in this regard.

According to the notification, the movement of motorcycles has been banned for 72 hours, starting on Friday midnight and ending on Monday midnight. Taxi cabs, pickup vans, microbuses and trucks will also be banned from Saturday midnight to Sunday midnight.

However, the ban will not be applicable for vehicles carrying personnel of the law-enforcing agencies, the armed forces and administrative officers.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Senior Secretary to the Public Security Division of Home Ministry Mustafizur Rahman said there will be no ban on private cars, auto-rickshaws and public transport on election day.
