Brutal cat abuse in Dhanmondi under police investigation
Dhaka police are investigating a disturbing case of animal cruelty in Dhanmondi-12, where unknown individuals have reportedly gouged out the eyes of cats.
Meanwhile, four cats were found injured near Takwa Jame Mosque over the past few days.
Sara Fatima, a residence of capital's Dhanmondi area, filed the case at Dhanmondi Police Station, describing "The acts as deliberate cruelty by a mentally disturbed individual targeting innocent animals."
The case has also been reported to the Environment and Climate Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Dhaka District Commissioner, and the Police Headquarters IG.
Authorities are providing medical treatment to the injured cats and are investigating the perpetrators.
Animal rights activists have condemned the acts, warning that such cruelty reflects deeper societal and psychological issues, potentially leading to violence against humans.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with calls for strict punishment for the offenders.
